The potential, adverse effects of human pharmaceuticals and biotech products on the immune system is acknowledged as an important issue. According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), evaluation of potential immunotoxic effects should be incorporated into standard drug development. As a consequence, an ICH guidance for human pharmaceuticals (ICH S8) was released in 2006.
